Things Our Pets Teach Us about Gratitude

It is that time of the year! The leaves are changing, it's getting cooler, we can wear all our favorite sweaters and drink all our favorite pumpkin flavored drinks. It is also a time that many people turn their focus to gratitude.

We of course always remember our family, friends, health and happiness but something that can be overlooked is the ways our pets have added to our lives!

We can thank our pets for many things including:

  1. Unconditional love. Pets accept you exactly as you are. Make up or sweat pants they love you just the same. They love you when you play with them or when you lay in bed with them. They do not judge that you just watched 3 hours of Netflix they have LOVED being in your lap the whole time. They don't care the decorations aren't perfect they are just excited you get to spend some time at home.

  2. True Companionship. Pets have no calendars and no schedules. They are never too busy for you. They will always give you the attention you need (unless you have that one cat that pretends you don't exist).

  3. Patience. Patience. Patience. I never knew I could love something so much that chewed up all my shoes, but I do. I never knew I could walk a mile in the rain because the dog doesn't like to pee when it's wet, but I can. Dogs are dependent on you for their every need and nurturing them teaches us so many things!

  4. Appreciate the small things. Pets get pumped about everything. If you talk in a high enough pitched voice you can get an excited reaction. Imagine your boss saying to you (in a really high pitched excited voice), "If you can get that report to me by 5:00 that'd be great". We should remember to get as excited about the small stuff as our pets do.

Here at My Furry Godmother we are grateful for ALL our loyal clients and for every precious moment you've enabled us to spend with your cherished fur-babies. We are grateful for our small communities of Apex, Holly Springs and Fuquay Varina where we get to serve as the #1 pet sitters and dog walkers.
