With Halloween right around the corner everyone is busy buying costumes, carving pumpkins, stocking up on candy and hanging decorations. With everything going on it can be easy to overlook some basic pet safety tips.
Safe During Trick or Treat (Apex, Fuquay and Holly Springs October 31st)
For many pets the constant coming and going of trick-or-treaters can be a bit nerve racking. Often the best solution is to keep the pets in a separate room away from the front door. This will help make sure they do not slip out the door accidently. Additionally confirm that your dogs collar has up to date contact information should they get super clever and still escape during the hustle and bustle!
If you will be out for an extended period of time and want your furry friend checked on be sure to reach out to one of our great pet sitters in Apex, Holly Springs and Fuquay Varina.
Be Careful with Costumes
Dressing up our animals can be both funny and adorable but be sure your pet is enjoying it as well! Also, make sure the costume does not limit their movements, eyesight or ability to bark/ meow. Some costumes come with small pieces that could be chewed off and become a choking hazard. Just be aware.
Candy Hazards
Many know that chocolate is extremely toxic for pets and should never be ingested. A lesser known fact is that some sugar-free candy contains the sugar substitute xylitol which can cause major issues in pets as well. All of our professional pet sitters are trained in pet safety and know that if a pet is suspected of having ingested something they should immediately call poison control: (888) 426-4435.
Have a very happy and safe Halloween! As always never hesitate to reach out to My Furry Godmother for all your pet sitting and dog walking needs. We have professional sitters in Apex, Fuquay Varina and Holly Springs.
